Worldwide Horizons

Partnerships

World-Wide Horizons has enabled new approaches to mutually beneficial partnerships working in an international context. Our partnerships encompass all aspects of the curriculum and a broad range of interests including education, culture and sport.

Ever-increasing opportunities to work with partners in the UK and overseas bring significant benefits and an international dimension to the student experience. They also help to enhance employability skills, transform lives and develop global citizens.

Sporting Partners
We have unique partnerships with Leeds Rhinos and Yorkshire County Cricket Club, through which students are exposed to professional sport. We work with our partners overseas to promote these sports, and engage local communities through schools liaison work.

Cultural Partners
Our cultural partners include the Black Dyke Band, the International Indian Film Academy and the Northern Ballet Theatre (NBT), with whom we received Business in the Community funding to tour China and ultimately won a National Arts and Business Award. This has helped to build the University's reputation in China for courses in the Arts and to strengthen links with our Chinese partners.

Educational Partners
University programmes are delivered in many countries going beyond Hong Kong, China and Malaysia to include Swaziland, Croatia, Namibia, Malawi, Botswana and Mauritius. In other countries, such as The Gambia, Zambia and Tanzania, not only do we deliver in-country, but we have secured funding from the Commonwealth Distance Learning Scholarships Scheme to support students on these programmes, ultimately enabling even more students to benefit.

The University's Study Abroad scheme provides the opportunity for students to spend one or two semesters with University partners overseas. Exchange programmes are available in Auckland, New Zealand, Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne and also include universities in Ontario and Quebec in Canada, and Hiroshima University in Japan.

There are several partner universities in North America including, Maryland, California, New York State, Fargo, Kentucky, Pennsylvania, Sacramento and Indiana.
