A full and lively crowd enjoyed a fast, skilful and highly competitive game of netball at Headingley Campus, the new home for Leeds Met Carnegie’s Netball Super League team.
Amongst
the squad, who played a challenging game against the Brunel Hurricanes,
was Welsh international and Leeds Met sports scholar Amanda Evans,
who has been selected to represent her country in the Commonwealth
Games this year, and former England international Ruth Cockerill.
Commenting on their new home for netball, Ruth said: “The new court is awesome and it’s a real privilege that it has been supplied for us. It’s good to be on home ground so that our families can come and so that more spectators can attend – they’ve been a good first crowd.”

The
Netball superleague game followed the Volleyball National Student
Cup 2006, also held at Headingley Campus, which saw the Leeds
Met women’s team face competitors from universities around
the UK.
Leeds Met Carnegie will host Loughborough Lightning at Headingley
Campus on Friday 24 February 2006 at 8pm.
