Leeds Business School – Developing the Region

21 August 2003

Leeds Business School’s Course Open Evening, held early in August, was such a success that it invited business leaders, professionals and managers from across Yorkshire to attend a second event.

The event, held on Tuesday 2 September 2003, at Headingley Campus, offered attendees a flavour of the courses on offer at the business school, a faculty of Leeds Metropolitan University.

Visitors found out more about full and part-time undergraduate, postgraduate and professional 2003/4 courses in Accountancy & Finance, Business & International Business, Director Development, Law, Management, Marketing, Personnel Management & Development, Public Policy & Management and Public Relations.

Staff from individual courses were on hand to answer questions and discussed how individuals could benefit from taking these courses to advance professional development.

The range of courses at the Business School is of particular interest to business people wanting to keep up to date with current training, and business leaders wanting to ensure employees development.

Anne Maguire, site accountant at Robert McBride Ltd, said her recent MA in Finance and Accounting course exceeded her expectations, ""I did not expect what I got. I can only describe myself as a sponge, soaking up the knowledge. The more I studied, the more I wanted to know."

The Dean of Leeds Business School, Stephen Parkinson pointed out that you don’t necessarily need qualifications to enrol on some of the courses.

"We welcome everyone to the open evening. Staff will be on hand to explain how the courses can further professional development, combining easy access and own time learning. Leeds Business School works closely with regional companies to ensure they are developing employees to their full potential."
