Assessment, Learning & Teaching Reflections

Tuesday 8 November

Following the announcement that HEFCE will be providing universities with additional funding to support research-informed teaching, fostering research that supports teaching becomes even more important to us here at Leeds Met. Excellent lecturers base their teaching on sound subject-specific research and scholarship in their areas of specialism as well as on pedagogic research that identifies what works best in live and virtual learning environments. At Leeds Met we aim both strongly to encourage research which underpins teaching content and also to foster the scholarship of teaching. We have a strong track record over many years of undertaking externally-funded and internally-initiated projects and action research on learning and teaching, but this has largely remained under-disseminated within the university and to the wider community beyond.

Hence we aim to celebrate and share evidence-based good learning and teaching practice across the university and its partners, nationally and internationally, both through caT&Lyst and other activities, coordinated by the Carnegie Faculty, to value highly the scholarship of learning and teaching. We aim to encourage staff across the university to be active in publications, internal and external conferences and action research and to identify, review and share sound and innovative practice in assessment, learning and teaching.
