Assessment, Learning & Teaching Reflections |
Monday 7 November
Supporting, rewarding and developing teaching staff is essential if we are to deliver the ALT strategy effectively . All staff engaged in teaching and assessing students should be trained and supported to do so effectively and efficiently, to be recognised for their capability and rewarded for excellence. For this reason, we provide an annual programme of face-to-face and virtual learning opportunities as outlined in the ‘What follows?’ programme, with activities following through from the last Staff Development Festival Fortnight Festival until the next one, 30 th August-12 th September 2006.The caT&Lyst project, the prototype of which was launched in September, will be a key element of our ALT strategy implementation, providing an environment to co-ordinate activities, resources and information supporting the induction and continuing professional development of staff who involved in assessment, learning and teaching. Topics covered will be wide-ranging and will include many prioritised in the ALT strategy including e-learning, formative assessment, plagiarism, cross-cultural capability, employability and inclusive assessment, learning and teaching.
We will reward and recognise excellence in relation to assessment, learning and teaching area not only through our well-regarded institutional Teaching Fellowship scheme and our Centres for Excellence in Teaching and Learning, but also via promotions and annual performance reviews.
