Faculty: Faculty of Business & Law

Winner of the “Engaging Content” category Ollie Jones explains how he uses X-stream to engage Business Studies students with the module content.
The module front page is frequently updated according to student relevance. Previous years’ feedback is used to improve module content. Core text as online resources is provided to ensure that students cover the background reading prior to attending tutorials. Answers to the core text were posted on the blog and they proved to be popular amongst students. They also valued the weekly learning outcomes which made clear about what they’ll learn each week. Key comments from students at the end of each tutorial were also posted on the tutorial blog.

An assessment area is set up, where the module guide is broken up into relevant elements such as the assessment, case study and assessment criteria. This proved to be useful as tutors can track usage via X-stream. Online assessment surgery provided students an avenue to chat with tutors regarding various assessment queries. Furthermore, assessment support as hints and tips were given via podcasts. Tutors also marked and moderated assessment in chatroom and provided generic assessment feedback to promote student commitment.
