Module: Strategic Marketing for Events

Module Leader: Stephen Henderson

Faculty: Lesley Silver International Faculty

Winner of the "Communication and Collaboration" category Stephen Henderson explains the background for adopting discussions as an element of summative assessment. The video illustrates how to create groups, determine their focus and allocate students to these groups within X-stream. Similarly the process of creating discussions for each group is also reviewed. During lectures students were introduced to new topics and expected to post comments showing their relevance to their group focus. Students were expected to make a minimum of 3 postings to their respective discussion group over a 10 week period and these were assessed at the end of the module. The process of collecting together all the postings of an individual student and storing their contents in a single document is described; this made each student's contributions much easier to mark. These postings are assessed on the basis of research, theory, integration of both of these in the posting and the quality of the writing and associated discussion.
