Winner of the "Beyond X-stream" category, Graham Hibbert, from Faculty of Arts and Society, demonstrates the web-based portfolio and social networking site he has designed and built to support students in graphic design and fine art. The site is impressive in its professional presentation and in the functionality available.
The site provides a secure portfolio for students,
allowing them to showcase their work and get informal feedback on it. Students
and staff can upload images of their work, comment on each other's work, and
set up groups for particular interests. They can send private messages and
broadcast announcements. The site is used by hundreds of staff and students
and has thousands of entries, many of them examples of student work. It is
easy to use and has captured the imagination of staff and students in this
area. The judges were particularly impressed by this, as well as by the scale
of the development and by its potential for use elsewhere in the University.
