Module: Information for Health Care

Module Leader: Chris Spoor

Faculty: Faculty of Health

Winner of the “Assessment and Feedback” category Chris Spoor explains there are typically 100+ nursing students on the module who spend a proportion of their time out on placement. This poses a significant challenge for providing support. The module team have moved to delivery entirely by X-stream except for an initial orientation session. Staff take an enabling, problem solving and coaching role. Each section of the module has online content followed by interactive activities. Students post their own contributions to a discussion forum to build up a learning and socialisation resource. Each section has a formative quiz with feedback that is designed to help students prepare for the final examination. Students submit their coursework as a PowerPoint artefact using the X-stream assignment tool. They are able to practise submission to give them added confidence about the process. Both text and audio feedback on their performance is provided through X-stream.
