Transfer of Modules

To transfer the contents of one WebCT module to another (either the same or different installations) follow the instructions below.

1. Log into the WebCT module that you want to transfer

2. Create a backup of the module as described below

2.1. Click on Manage Course from the Control Panel (Visible to Designers)

2.2. Scroll down and select Backup Course from the Course Functions section

2.3. From the left hand drop-down-menu select Create Backup and click on the Go button

2.4. Follow the on-screen instructions to create a backup of your module

3. Download the Backup to your PC as below

3.1. Click in the circle to the left of the backup you have just created to select it

3.2. From the right hand drop-down-menu select Download and click on the Go button

3.3. Click OK to save to disk

3.4. Select a location to save your backup to and click on Save

4. Exit this WebCT module and log into the module that you want to transfer to

5. Click on Manage Course from the Control Panel (Visible to Designers)

6. Scroll down and select Backup Course from the Course Functions section

7. Upload the Backup from your PC as below

7.1. From the left hand drop-down-menu select Upload Backup and click on the Go button

7.2. Click on the Browse Button and navigate to your backup's location

7.3. Select your backup and click on Open

7.4. Click on Upload

8. Restore the backup of the module as described below

8.1. Click in the circle to the left of the backup you have just created to select it

8.2. From the right hand drop-down-menu select Restore but keep current student list and click on the Go button

8.3. Click on OK to restore the backup

Your module has been transferred to a new WebCT Module.

With all backup restores we recommend you spend a little time checking that the module has transferred successfully.
