Summer Assistance
“Help may be available over the summer for continuing ‘home’ students who have to remain in Leeds and are unable to claim Income Support and Housing Benefit, in the following categories:”

25th June – 1st September

• Single parent or a parent with a partner who is without paid work
• A single student with serious documented illness which prevents them from working over the summer and therefore have no income
• Students with a documented reason who are unable to work over summer, depending on the circumstances. This includes those who are required to re-sit or repeat modules (evidence will be required from the faculty).

1st September – 28th September

• A student receiving Income Support over the summer, but has notification that Benefit will stop in the first week in September – a copy of the letter will be required.

You should telephone 0113 8126701 or call at the Helpzone if you are in one of the above categories. Please note the closing date for assistance in July and August is 13th July and 21st September for assistance over September.

In addition to the information requested on the application form, you must provide a copy of the letter from the Benefits Agency giving details of the level of support you will be receiving from them.
