Progress to Leeds Met

If you wish to continue your studies after a foundation degree, did you know you can apply for a top up award here at Leeds Met?

A top up means you study for another year (full-time) or longer (part-time) and 'top up' your foundation degree to a full BA/BSc Honours degree.

The Regional University Network can support you with information, advice and guidance on the progression from a foundation degree to an Honours degree here at Leeds Metropolitan.

Progression to a top up is not guaranteed and you need to submit a competitive UCAS application by 15 January 2011.

Details of the limitations of progression are provided within the University Academic Principles and Regulations at B10.9.1.

There are four Faculties at Leeds Metropolitan which offer appropriate top up awards for you to study.  You can search for top up awards via our online prospectus.

For further information, advice and guidance please email: run.office@leedsmet.ac.uk

Early Application Scheme Entry (EASE)

Early Application Scheme Entry (EASE) enables you as a level 3 FE student to apply early to level 4 HE courses at Leeds Met. You apply in the first year of your FE course, instead of waiting to apply in your second year through UCAS.

EASE allows you to apply for up to three courses for early consideration. You would still need to apply through UCAS in your second year but by using EASE, you could receive a conditional offer before you even start your second year! Consideration of your application is guaranteed and any offer you receive is binding for us, but not for you.

You can use EASE to practice application skills for your UCAS submission in your second year and receive constructive feedback from University staff on your personal statement, which is an important part of the UCAS process.

If you have any queries on EASE please telephone 0113 812 5174 or email r.lomas@leedsmet.ac.uk

Library Access

Access

Whilst you are studying a Leeds Metropolitan University validated course at one of our Regional University Network partner colleges, you can request membership of The Library at Leeds Metroppolitan University by applying for a Campus RUN Card. When you have your card you may use the two campus libraries at Headingley and City Campus.

To apply for a Campus RUN Card, please complete this form. RUNCampusCard.pdf. Please remember to have it signed by your tutor, and return it to the address on the form with the requested photo. Your card will be sent directly to your home address.

What will I be able to borrow?

Upon receipt of your Campus RUN card, ask for your Library PIN at the Help and Information Point in The Library. With your card and PIN you can borrow up to 5 books for 2 weeks. You can log in to the Library Catalogue and use the Self Service function to extend this loan period, provided that no one has "placed a hold" on that book. You can return the items you have borrowed to The Library at either campus, City or Headingley. Your borrowing entitlement does not include short loan items, videos or journals.

Fines

If you have any outstanding fines on your card, you will not be able to renew any items you have on loan, or borrow any more items until the fine has been paid. Fines on overdue items are charged at 20p per item per day overdue.

Access to IT

Whilst in the library, you can request a temporary one-day login to use the PCs. You can also access some of the electronic resources of The Library at Leeds Metropolitan university. Please ask at the Help and Information Point for further details.

In addition the following electronic resources can be accessed via your RUN college:

  • Emerald
This database contains full text management journal articles. A username and password (specific to the partner college) is supplied to each RUN college library for Leeds Metropolitan college-enrolled students. Please ask your college librarian for them.
  • Skills for Learning
Skills for Learning is an online study skills resource. RUN colleges make it available in their library or their password protected intranet.

Study Abroad

Leeds Met welcomes thousands of international students each year, and we also offer home students the opportunity to add an international dimension to their curriculum by studying abroad.

Our Study Abroad and International Exchange programmes provide single and double semester study programmes in many subject areas and we can help you find a place in Universities in Europe, the USA, Japan, Australia, New Zealand, Mexico and Canada.

It's a once in a lifetime experience not to be missed!

Freshers' Festival

Welcome Week is in September, and offers a series of events to welcome you to Leeds Metropolitan.

As most students begin their studies in September this is the busier of the two weeks.

Every year, our University and the Students’ Union put on a programme of events to suit a wide range of interests. Look out for information on our homepage and the Students’ Union website for details of events.
