Student Mentoring Scheme

Do you want to connect with the world of work, and find out what it is really like to do your chosen job from someone who is already successfully doing that job?

Our mentoring scheme is a voluntary programme run by the Mentor Administrator, Karen Armitage, in the Jobs & Careers Service. The scheme matches mentors (professionals and employers), working in a particular area, with Leeds Met students (mentees). With the help of a mentor you could develop your practical skills and gain confidence to enter your chosen profession. Also, it gives you the opportunity to gain access to professional networks and get inside knowledge of what employers really want from graduates!

Suggested time commitment to the scheme is to attend a minimum of four face-to-face meetings of approximately one hour a time during a four month period, and may additionally involve electronic mentoring.

We welcome applications to become a mentor or mentee throughout the year and would encourage those who are interested to return the application form as soon as possible. The scheme is available to undergraduate students in their second, third or final year. If you would like to apply to be a mentee on the scheme, please download an application form and return it to the Mentor Administrator.
