Appeals

If you feel that you have in some way been disadvantaged during your studies and this is reflected in your results then you may have grounds for an academic appeal. There are four grounds for appeal which are:

  • Computational Error
  • Material Procedural & Administrative Error
  • Programme Management Deficiencies
  • Previously Undisclosed Extenuating Circumstances

You cannot submit a Request for an Appeal Hearing until your results have been confirmed by an Examination Committee/Board of Examiners.  You have 15 working days after your results are available on Results Online in which to submit your Request for an Appeal Hearing.

Frequently Asked Questions, guidance in relation to the University Regulations and the Request for an Appeal Hearing form are provided on this page to assist you.

  • We suggest you read the Frequently Asked Questions that students regularly ask in relation to appeals prior to completing your form.
  • The Guidance in relation to the University Regulations offers advice and guidance on how to complete your Request for an Appeal Hearing form and the processes that are followed once your Form has been submitted.
  • The Request for an Appeal Hearing form can be saved and completed electronically.
You can send it direct to boe-appeals@leedsmet.ac.uk along with any scanned evidence.  Alternatively, you may post your documentation or deliver it personally to QSRE, Leighton 204, Headingley Campus, Leeds LS6 3QS. You should receive a receipt however you submit your documentation.  If you do not, you should telephone 0113 8123428 to ensure that it has been received and is being dealt with.

You are strongly advised to seek guidance from the Student Union Advice Centre on whether you have grounds for an appeal and the completion of the paperwork.
