US Direct Loans US Direct Loans including Veteran Affairs Funding
The information on this site will guide you through what you need to do once you have accepted your place on a course at Leeds Met.
You need to register with the US Loans Department at Leeds Met, by emailing usloans@leedsmet.ac.uk . We need to collect certain information regarding your course and personal details relating to your eligibility for US Direct/Federal Aid Loans.
Following receipt of your personal details/course information it will take at least two weeks to process your estimated Cost of Attendance (COA) as we need to confirm details with your faculty. This will give you guidance regarding the amount of loans you will need to apply for. When we confirm your COA, you will need to register with our Virtual Financial Aid Office (VFAO), please see the link in the relevant academic year below.
Following confirmation from Leeds Met regarding you loan package, we can issue your Visa letter via email, it will also be sent to your home address. You need to make sure you apply early enough so that you are able to travel before the start of the academic year. If you need more information about Visas please contact our International Student Advice Service http://www.leedsmet.ac.uk/international/visas-and-support.htm
As loans will not be released until students are enrolled on their course we advise that students bring sufficient funds with them for the beginning of term.
