The Summer Vacation Fund will open on the 27th May until the 31st of August, 2013.
This fund is intended to assist students who are experiencing financial hardship during the summer vacation period and is administered in line with the Access to Learning Fund Guidance.
Who is eligible to apply?
Students with children – for those eligible for means-tested benefits to help during the period whilst they are waiting for their benefit payments to be assessed and issued. Students retaking/re-sitting elements of their course either in or out of attendance over the summer period Students who are ill or have a disability and are therefore unable to undertake work, and for whom other benefits are not available.
Non- final year students and students who have no alternative substantial means of support in circumstances where the administrator is satisfied that they are unable to secure alternative funding or other income. For example students who are estranged, care leavers, domestic violence, relationship breakdown, homelessness or other exceptional circumstances.
Students receiving means tested benefits over the summer and their benefit has stopped in the first week of September and are transitioning back to university.
Forms can be picked up from the Student Hub and from Faculty Reception desks.
Applications will normally be processed within 10 working days from receipt of a complete application. If under the schemes criteria the application is determined to be urgent it will be processed within 5 working days.
