Disability, Dyslexia & Assessment Centre

Our Disability, Dyslexia and Assessment Centre team is the first point of contact for you to discuss your requirement for reasonable adjustments. We are able to offer a wide range of advice and support to all students whatever your impairment. We can liaise with academic staff, help draw up alternative assessment arrangements, conduct needs assessments for Disabled Students' Allowance (DSA) purposes, guide you towards specialist study and tutorial support and put you in touch with a number of disability organisations in Leeds and surrounding areas.

We are available at any time throughout your course of study here at Leeds Met but we do need you to contact us as soon as possible so that we can offer you the full range of support available. Our Disability, Dyslexia and Assessment Centre is the first contact for you to get extra help and support if you have (or think you may have) a disability which will affect your ability to study or physically access our University.

International Student Advice Centre

At Leeds Metropolitan we can provide support and advice about many issues which may affect you as an international student - our International Student Advice Centre has offices at both our Headingley and City campuses.

Our advice is available free of charge and follows the Rules and Code of Standards of the Office of the Immigration Services Commissioner (OISC) and the United Kingdom Border Agency.

Student Money

Our Student Money and Advice Centre consists of the Money Support and Student Money Advice teams - both based in the Rose Bowl, City Campus.

The Money Support Team is responsible for administering funds that provide additional financial support for students. Dealing with applications for financial assistance from the Access to Learning Fund and other schemes such as the short term loans and emergency assistance. Student Money Advice provides confidential specialist advice about student funding and can also help with general advice about budgeting, debt and welfare benefit entitlement.

Our Fees Team is based in Leighton Hall, Headingley Campus and can help with queries about tuition fee calculations, the Leeds Met Bursary and the National Scholarship Programme. Phone: 0113 812 4935 or email fees@leedsmet.ac.uk

Our Incomes Team is based in Portland Building, City Campus. Contact us if you need to pay tuition fees, accommodation or other invoiced charges to the University, and particularly if you are having difficulty paying an outstanding charge. Student Employability & Progression

Our Employability service is for Leeds Met students, graduates and staff offering an impartial advice service to help you make decisions on your career and to recognise and develop your employability skills including writing your CV and preparing for interviews. Our service offers different levels of support and advice to help you to consider your choice of employment or further study, to make decisions about your career and to plan your progress. The staff are based at both City and Headingley campuses and you will normally have to make an appointment for a meeting with an adviser.

Our Job Shop offers opportunities for part time work in Leeds while you're studying, and graduate opportunities for life after Leeds Metropolitan. Visit their offices on campus, or view opportunities online via X-Stream.

Student Wellbeing

Our Student Wellbeing Centre offers therapeutic support to all students at City Campus and Headingley Campus who are willing and able to benefit from it. The ability to study can be seriously affected when you are having to bottle up difficult feelings.

Our aim is to help you get the most out of your time at Leeds Met, by assisting you to get back to full functioning as quickly as possible. Anyone who is a student of Leeds Met, be they part time or full time, home or international, whatever age, race or belief, is welcome to use the Student Wellbeing Centre.

On Campus

Get the most out of your time on campus, from joining a club or society to hitting the gym, there are lots of opportunities on offer to our students. Feeling peckish or need a caffeine hit? Our campus shops and food outlets can quench your appetite. We also have a dedicated bus service to get you from Leeds City Centre to Headingley Campus via our student residences. If you're feeling more energetic you can use pedal power and hire a bike through our Velocampus scheme.

Accommodation

Your student experience will be enhanced with our great range of affordable accommodation, with more than 4,000 bedrooms available in our flats and halls.

At Leeds Metropolitan University we pride ourselves on giving students a warm welcome and a sense of community. Our Residential Officer Teams help develop the neighbourly atmosphere at our residences and are in place for the benefit and accessibility of all students in University residential accommodation. The Residential Officers are responsible for the welfare and pastoral care of students living in residences and aim to promote a harmonious living environment and ensure wellbeing and safety.
