English language help

As an international student you’re entitled to help with your English language skills if you need it.

All international students are offered the Academic English & Study Skills (ECIS) course free-of-charge (EU students may be required to pay a small fee) to help develop your language skills and to learn more about academic English, study skills and the expectations of study in the UK. Your fee rate also includes free one-to-one tutorials with a qualified and experienced English language tutor. For more information about the course, contact Elizabeth Poynter e.poynter@leedsmet.ac.uk or see the English Language help pages. All of the English courses are accredited by the British Council.

There are also one-to-one and small group sessions available in the Language Resources Area of Headingley Campus library. Email Mike Forshaw, our Language Learning Adviser, on m.forshaw@leedsmet.ac.uk for further information or to make an appointment.
