Windows 7 and Office 2010 Migration

All staff PCs and laptops have been migrated to Office 2010 and IE8 in preparation for the final stage to migrate to Windows 7 from December 2011 to June 2012.

In June 2011 the Corporate Management Team approved the upgrade of all student and staff PCs and laptops to Windows 7 and Office 2010/IE8.

We are planning to commence the staff migration in December 2011 and will run through into June 2012. View the timetable for migration.
To support the upgrade, training courses on Windows 7 and Microsoft Office 2010 have been arranged with People Development and can be booked via the People Development website

To date over 400 colleagues have successfully migrated to the new operating system and we will shortly be looking to push Windows 7 on a proactive basis to all staff, making this the default windows operating system within the University. To support the process and minimise impact on staff, an overnight automated migration tool has been developed by IMTS.
