Vice Chancellor

Professor Susan Price joined our University in January 2010, becoming the first female Vice Chancellor in the history of Leeds Metropolitan, and only the 13th female Vice Chancellor in the UK.

Susan is responsible for the overall strategy of our University, leads the Vice Chancellor’s Group and Corporate Management Team, and chairs the Academic Board.

Susan was previously at the University of East London, where she was Deputy Vice Chancellor and Acting Vice Chancellor. She has also held the posts of Director of Academic Affairs in Modern Languages at the University of Bradford, Associate Dean at the University of the West England and ESRC Fellow in International Business at the University of Manchester Business School.

Susan has a First Class degree in Modern Languages from the University of Salford, and completed her PhD in Linguistics at University College London and Salford. She also has an MBA from the University of Bradford. Speaking six European languages, Susan is a Fellow of the Royal Society for the Arts, Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Linguists, Fellow of the Chartered Management Institute and a Member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing.

In addition to her role as Vice Chancellor, Susan sits on the Board of Marketing Leeds and of The Leeds Initiative and is a member and director of the Yorkshire Universities Board as well as being a member of Universities UK Students, Quality and Participation Policy Network, and the International and Europe Strategic Advisory Board. She is also a member of the Executive of Million+, the University think-tank.
