Collaborations & Partnerships

The Collaborations and Partnerships Group is responsible for maintaining and enhancing our University's overall Quality Assurance Framework to ensure collaborative provision and partnerships comply with the Framework.

We also ensure that faculties and collaborative partners receive appropriate guidance and other information to support compliance and enhancement.

The Group works closely with the Quality, Standards, Review and Enhancement (QSRE) team to ensure consistency of approach and to facilitate the sharing of best practice institutionally and with partners.

The types of activity undertaken by the Group include:

  • the monitoring and review of activity undertaken by Collaborative Delivery Coordinators
  • institutional recognition and reviews
  • enhancement audits encompassing areas such as admissions, public information and assessment
  • establishing a programme of overseas audits of collaborative partners
  • continuous audit including board of examiners and annual review activity
  • staff development for partners and internal colleagues
  • review of Section E of the academic regulations
  • the development of policies and processes to support collaborative activity

Validation of Collaborative Provision

Any provision that leads to an award or credit of the University (the ‘awarding institution’) that is to be delivered in full or in part by members of staff of an external body at that institution’s premises (the ‘programme presenter’) must be formally “validated” by the University.

‘Awards’ and ‘courses’ refer not only to awards attained following completion of a programme of study, but also to academic credit awarded by the University following completion of an individual module or group of modules.

The University may validate provision at external bodies in the United Kingdom or overseas. Such schemes or courses may lead to awards or credit of the collaborating body as well as to University awards.  These awards may be dual or joints awards.

Institutional Recognition and Review

Any external body that our University wishes to enter into an arrangement with to deliver collaborative provision leading to an award or credit of the University (the ‘awarding institution’) must be formally “recognised” by the University.

‘Awards’ and ‘courses’ refer not only to awards attained following completion of a programme of study, but also to academic credit awarded by the University following completion of an individual module or group of modules.

The University may offer collaborative provision in conjunction with other bodies in the United Kingdom or overseas.
