Awards and Examinations

Awards and Examinations is responsible for the processing of certificates, verification of awards, co-ordinating the timetabling of University examinations, processing examination papers and appointing external exam invigilators.

Invigilation of Examinations

Invigilation of Examinations is mainly carried out by university staff, however we have a pool of external invigilators who are employed on a casual basis to assist with examinations.
When recruiting for a Leeds Metropolitan invigilator position we look for the following qualities and require our invigilators to:

  • Be reliable and punctual at all times.
  • Have a flexible approach to work (you may be required to work at short notice
and willing to travel to either our City or Headingley campuses).
  • Be able to communicate with candidates and staff clearly and accurately.
  • Use their common sense and initiative.
  • Be able to work as part of a team or alone as necessary.
  • Keep calm under pressure or during unexpected circumstances.

Examination Invigilator Training

Leeds Metropolitan staff can book onto Examination Invigilator Training via iTrent Self-Service. Pool invigilators will be invited by the Awards and Examinations office.
