Public Information

It is imperative for institutions and their collaborative partners to provide prospective and current students with accurate information regarding higher education study. It is the responsibility of the validating body to ensure the accuracy of public information pertaining to awards validated and approved by the University to be delivered in partnership with another organisation. This is in line with:

  • QAA guidelines: A28 QAA Section 2: Collaborative provision and flexible distributed learning (including e-learning). The awarding institution should ensure that it has effective control over the accuracy of all public information, publicity and promotional activity relating to its collaborative provision, and provision offered through FDL arrangements.
  • Leeds Metropolitan University's Academic Regulations: E1.3.8 Public information. The University and the collaborating body shall make appropriate information on collaborative provision available to students and the wider public in accordance with external requirements and as set out in the written agreement. The University shall be responsible for all public information in respect of the collaborative provision with any such information being compliant with applicable local regulations.
  • The Service Agreement between Leeds Metropolitan University and the respective partner: The College will prepare advertising material and hold open days as it considers necessary. The content and format of the former must be agreed with the University in advance of publication, specifically in relation to use of the University's name logo and corporate style.

Process of approval of marketing and publicity material

Annually and working with the University, each collaborative partner is required to review their respective HE portfolio and accuracy of its programmes intended for publishing within its prospectus and web site for the following academic year. Proposed copy and images will require submission to the Collaborations and Partnerships Group with a copy to the FE College Partnerships office for approval by the University.

Please submit any publicity material relating to provision validated by Leeds Metropolitan University and delivered at a collaborative partner to Collaborations@leedsmet.ac.uk with a copy to FEcollegepartnerships@leedsmet.ac.uk for approval.

Please allow the Collaborations and Partnerships Group a period of ten working days in which to approve information.

In addition, the Collaborations and Partnerships Group will annually sample, review and audit the accuracy, appropriateness and completeness of its collaborative partners wider marketing and publicity materials; for example HE elements of the web site, samples of programme leaflets and other materials. The outcomes of which will be disseminated to partners.

Prising Open OERs – A Learning & Teaching Symposium January 21st 2013

Join us for lively discussions, expert perspectives, shared examples around the use (or non-use) of open education resources in higher education. Do you use them – how and why? Do you not use them – why not? Should we fear them or flirt with them, embrace them or enhance them? There’s a lot of fuss about them, but what’s all the fuss about? We will be running live discussions, virtual discussions, expert perspectives, and chances to share and air.
