Varsity

Leeds Metropolitan University has triumphed for the seventh successive year over their city neighbours the University of Leeds in the annual Leeds Varsity competition.
Over 1,500 students compete in the all-day event, which features 52 matches across 25 sports, ranging from rugby league and football to mountaineering and Ultimate Frisbee. Leeds Met, who have never lost the city's inter university competition, beat the University of Leeds by eight matches 30-22 - the closest ever margin.
Varsity's main event is the men's rugby union match held at Headingley Carnegie stadium. A crowd of 9,914 students watched as the University of Leeds secured a 14-10 victory in the showpiece match for just the second time in Varsity history.
