National finals await for Carnegie basketball

This weekend the Women's Division 1 team secured their place in the National League Senior Final 4s the first time in the programs history with 3 games still to play in the league and will also compete in the BUCS national finals this weekend.
Women's Basketball Head Coach, Chris Straker gave his thoughts of the team's performance so far this season: "Getting this result and ensuring a top four finish is a fantastic achievement I am so happy for the girls and very proud of what they have managed to accomplish being such a young team. Every player on the squad has worked extremely hard this year and the trip to final fours will be testament to the work ethic, desire and determination they have shown.
"Brixton did a good job and made it difficult the whole way never giving up and always making us fight. After last week's tough game we showed great character to bounce back in this fashion. I believe this was one of our most controlled and most pleasing games all year offensively, we made smart choices, read the defence well, shared the ball and got good shots. Defensively we worked hard and played for each other technically we have had better days but we got the job done.
"Everyone getting on the score sheet was the icing on the cake and epitomises our team first mentality, it really shows how far we have come this year that every player made a solid contribution. Scoring 98 without Rehana Khalil on the floor (due to injury) shows that we have improved and players are stepping up and it seems things are starting to click at the right time.
"We now look forward to BUCS finals this week and then the run in to the end of the season, where we will look to refine our performances and give ourselves a shot at final fours."
