Jackson strikes gold in Delhi

Leeds Metropolitan University student Jo Jackson has made history in winning gold at the Commonwealth Games in Delhi with victory in the women's 20k walk.
Jo, a Sports Performance student and Carnegie scholar, became the first British women to win a major race walk championship clocking a time of one hour, 34 minutes, 22 seconds in picking up England's 20th gold at the championships.
Coach Andi Drake speaks after Jo Jackson's success at the Commonwealth Games by leedsmetSpeaking afterwards the 25-year-old said: "That was amazing, I have dreamt of this moment so often for so long. I really put everything into this and I wasn't expecting to win by so much."
"Before the championships I spent three weeks training in a heat chamber at Leeds Met, for an hour a day I walked on a treadmill at 60% humidity and 32C and that definitely helped," she said.
In the men's race Leeds Met students Tom Bosworth and Alex Wright finished 11th and 13th respectively.
