BUCS success for Leeds Met gymnast

BUCS success for Leeds Met gymnast

18/02/2010

Leeds Met gymnast Vid Hidvegi struck gold at the BUCS Gymnastics Championships held at the weekend.

The tournament, in Aldershot saw the Carnegie scholar who is studying for a BA (Hons) Business with English as a Foreign Language pick up first place in the Grade 1 event, whilst the men's and women's squads picked up silver in the team event.

Vid, who will represent Hungary at the European Championships later in the year, was delighted to pick up silverware so early in the season: "Competing this early in the season is challenging, but I'm very happy to have performed well at the BUCS championships.  It's a good benchmark for me as I prepare for the European Championships later on this year although we were a little bit disappointed in the team event to lose out to Loughborough."

There was further success for the men in the Grade 2 event as Richard Adams finished first overall, having led the competition in the floor, high bars and parallel bars disciplines.  Ross Hill also picked up first place in the vault and rings events.  The women also performed well at the event with Maddison Carter finishing second overall including first place in the Bars whilst Natalie Grinsill finished third in the same event.
