Clean sweep for Carnegie Volleyball

Volleyballers at Leeds Met have made history in winning both the men's and women's competition at the BUCS Championships in Sheffield.
The men's and women's sides landed an unprecedented double double, having taken both VE Student Cup Titles in February. They became the first teams to hold all four titles at the one time.
Leeds Met Carnegie women cruised through their pool and were untroubled by Bournemouth in the semi final to meet Dundee in the Final. Strong serving, powerful hitting and a more consistent level proved too much for the Scots and saw a comfortable 2-0 outcome.
In the men's Championship Leeds Met Carnegie were clear winners of their Pool and were too strong for Cardiff in the semi final to set up a Student Cup Final repeat against Sheffield Hallam. Again Carnegie proved too strong all round and were in control throughout their 2-0 victory.
Speaking after the weekend coach Simon Loftus spoke of his sides' success: "I am obviously delighted with the results from the weekend but it is the level and consistency of play that was most enjoyable to watch. The players work so hard in practice and sacrifice so much that they deserve all the credit and accolades that go with it. For me the team spirit and desire to work for each other is what makes them Champions regardless or any results."
