Netball side crowned student champions

Leeds Met's netball side have beaten Loughborough in the final of the BUCS Championship to be crowned national student champions.
The side battled through a thrilling encounter to win 68-67 following overtime in front of an appreciative crowd at the EISS in Sheffield.

Leeds Met had to fight back from a 19-12 deficit at the end of the first quarter and they trailed 29-25 at half time. They hadn't managed to close the gap at the end of the third quarter either as Loughborough opened up a 44-40 point lead. Anna Newell's side showed real determination in the final quarter though as they took a 56-55 lead with only seconds remaining. Loughborough managed however to score at the death and take the match into overtime. The scores remained close throughout overtime, but Leeds hung on to record a famous win and be crowned national student champions for the first time.
Leeds Met made it to the final following a 56-32 win over Welsh side UWIC in the semi finals whilst Loughborough saw off Brunel 56-47 in their semi final match.
