Badminton Team cycle for Cancer Research

Badminton Team cycle for Cancer Research

09/03/2010

Badminton players from Leeds Met will be cycling across England to raise vital funds for a cancer charity.

The players will ride from Leeds to Liverpool and back, a journey of over 250 miles along the canal route, to raise money for Cancer Research.

It was recently announced that the club's assistant coach Alex Marritt has been diagnosed with cancer and the players will be completing the challenge to raise awareness of the disease.  A number of players have family members that have recently battled with various forms of cancer therefore the charity was an obvious candidate to support as it carries out groundbreaking research into the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of the disease.

Speaking of the fundraising project, AU President Matt Bergh commented: "This really is a great cause and obviously cancer affects so many people in so many ways so please do give generously and lets help to try and find cures or preventative measures from this disease."

All donations would be greatly appreciated and can be made by clicking here.

If you would like more information on the cause or the ride please visit the team's website here. If you would like to join in the bike ride, please email Matt Bergh or James Vincent and they will be happy to give more information.
