Athletic Union Welcome

Welcome to the home of Leeds Met Carnegie's Athletic Union. The Athletic Union is made up of 43 clubs and over 1600 members and has grown in both stature and numbers since its inception in 2005.

The Athletic Union President, oversees the day to day running of the AU along with the Athletic Union Manager. The AU President is governed by the AU Council which is made up of all the AU Executive committee and all club captains, who represent the members of their clubs.

The AU consists of 43 clubs that compete in BUCS (British Universities and Colleges Sport) competitions on a weekly basis. In  the 2009/10 season, Leeds Met finished 2nd in the overall national standings, achieving its highest position ever. In addition to the BUCS teams, the Athletic Union also offers support to various recreational and outdoor activity teams from Dodgeball to Sub Aqua. Whatever your interest we are positive we can cater for you and ensure you have access to the best student sport experience during your time at Leeds Met.

Our annual Varsity event this year engaged around 10,000 students across the two universities on a day which celebrates the friendship and the rivalry between Leeds Met and local rivals the University of Leeds. For the 5th year running, Leeds Met came out on top with a 36-13 score line overall. This is testimony to the attitude of all the athletes and coaches at Leeds Met who give their all in both training and in fixtures throughout the year.
