Water Polo

Water Polo

Water Polo here at Leeds Met is establishing itself as very competitive aquatic sport against other universities in both the Men's and Ladies teams. The Men's team has excelled through BUCS championships and reaching the final of UPOLO championship in Cardiff. In the same fashion the girls have progressed through the BUCS championships and establishing themselves as a strong side.

A water polo player must be a confident swimmer and at the same time have a relatively good ball handling ability, as some would say the sport is a combination of handball, rugby and swimming but is great fun. A range of abilities train with the teams and the development of all players from novice to elite is a theme within the squad.

The sport is very sociable and Leeds Met players are no different. Sports nights on a Wednesday see most of the squad interacting with the other sports teams in Leeds as well as competing in a number of friendly matches and competitions across the year including a tour abroad.

Anyone is welcome to join the team and anyone who can swim is always welcomed to come and have a go.

Training times are:

Tuesday 2030 - 2200

Wednesday 1500 - 1900

Thursday 2030 - 2200

Sunday 1800 - 2000
