Carnegie American Football is committed to be a leader on and off the field. The Programme has been established with a view to developing student-athletes to reach their full potential in this exciting and fast expanding university sport. Previous experience is not required, but the ability to give and receive a hit is.
The Programme has been accepted in to the British University American Football League and will be competing with full member status. Conferences are regionally based, with Carnegie's including Leeds University's long established team. There are 8 regular season games followed by play-off games for those qualifying. The eventual winners of the Northern & Southern play-offs battle it out for the National Championship title.
There are a number of Social events; including Superbowl Party and Shirt Presentation Evening. Squad members are encouraged to spend time together away from the field. A pre-season residential Boot Camp is a good opportunity to train hard and to relax together after practice.
The Programme is also working with local schools to deliver After School Club coaching. Student-athletes get the opportunity to deliver coaching in to schools in the Leeds area.
