Gymnastics

Gymnastics is a high profile sport at Leeds Met Carnegie. At the university level both the men's and women's team are a perennial power, consistently finishing in the top three universities in the UK. In 2005 the overall BUSA men's champion was a Carnegie Scholar, Oliver Kneen. In 2006 the men won the overall team event with three of our gymnasts in the overall top five.

Carnegie Regional Gymnastics Centre also attracts the top gymnasts from across the city and throughout the Yorkshire Region. High Performance coaches are in place for male and female gymnastics. This has created a culture of high performance within the gymnastics centre, which can be witnessed with large numbers of gymnasts training on a daily basis

The Regional Gymnastics Centre also demonstrated the unique commitment of Leeds Metropolitan University to developing partnerships. In developing and managing gymnastics at Carnegie the university has engaged a number of partners including British Gymnastics, Yorkshire and Humberside Gymnastics, as well as the high performance programme delivered by Leeds City Council and the City of Leeds Gymnastics Club.
