Men's Basketball

The Leeds Carnegie Basketball programme provides excellent opportunities for aspiring student athletes to develop in the game of basketball. The university, in its continued commitment to performance sport, launched the National League programme in 2006.

Head Coach, Matthew Newby has developed a programme which offers student athletes the opportunity to pursue their sport at the highest level whilst attaining a degree at Leeds Metropolitan University. The programme aspires to be the best higher education based basketball programme in the nation and endeavours to offer the best environment for an elite athlete to improve on a daily basis.

The Leeds Carnegie coaching staff has a high level of experience, drive and ambition. There is a tailored comprehensive schedule throughout the year, which develops players for the next level. Athletes in the elite tiers will train 3 to 4 times a week and receive additional individual development opportunities, strength and conditioning and physiotherapy support throughout each week. Athletes in the tiers 1, 3 & 4 will receive two training sessions per week.
