Women's Football

Women's Football

Women's Football at Leeds Met is going from strength to strength. With 3 teams and over 60 players registered, the club keeps player development central to its main aim and enjoys the opportunity to play competitive football on Wednesday afternoons in BUCS Competitions. Leeds Met can be classed as one of the best Universities for Women's Football in the UK after its track record over the last 5 years which has seen the club winning many league and cup titles in both Football and Futsal.

We are proud to have had the following England Internationals and FAWSL players play and study with us with Juliana Draycott, Carla Cantrell, Sophie Walton, Jade Moore, Jess Wright, Ellie Christon and Emily Heckler all contributing massively alongside are other talented players to our success in recent years.

As a club we have had five Northern Ireland Senior Internationals also play and study with us with Emma Higgins, Julie Nelson, Ashley Hutton, Jessica Doran and Laura Gillespie all contributing to our recent triumphs and we have been very proud of Hayley Sharp, Rachel Lee, Sarah Danby and Natalie Haigh who all represented the TEAM GB Students team at the World University Games in Shenzhen in 2011. Emma Lipman and Sophie Walton also represented TEAM GB Students at the World University Championships in Serbia in 2010 alongside TEAM GB Manager and our Head Coach Chris Welburn.

Other players who have played at National Premier and Combination levels such as Amy Owen, Chantelle O'Hara and Carrie Simpson have been figureheads for the club developments as part of the Football Committee group.

As we develop again we are looking forward to watching the new players take to the field for the BUCS 2013/2014 season starting with trials at the start of term in September 2013.

If you're interested in trialling for the teams then please contact Chris Welburn - Head Coach on 07825010360 or visit our club website http://www.pitchero.com/clubs/leedscarnegie for more details.
