SHOWCASE:A team of researchers from our Carnegie Faculty are raising awareness about developmental differences of children in the same year group and looking at what can be done to tackle the problem.
SHOWCASE:Leeds Metropolitan University have completed the Back to Front manual to promote front garden food growing. This successful project was driven in partnership with Leeds City Council and NHS Leeds.
SHOWCASE:Leeds Metropolitan is a key influencer in policy-making. Research undertaken for Kirklees Council on the Kirklees Labour Market and Skills Strategy discovered how to improve the skills base of the local economy.
SHOWCASE:The Technology Enhanced Learning (TEL) centre uses research to improve assessment, learning and teaching at Leeds Metropolitan. We run a wide-range of project-based practical research that leads sustainable projects across the university.
SHOWCASE:The award-winning project, Getting Sorted, was created by our Childhood research centre to facilitate workshops and training for young people with long-term health conditions.
Research Expertise:
- Capri seeks to revolutionise thinking through the development of a community of practitioners focusing on a forward-looking research, implementation and evaluation agenda.
- The Active Lifestyles research group takes a holistic approach to public health, exploring how physical activity impacts on physical, social and mental health, as well as responses to physical activity.
- The Centre for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion engages in critical research & analysis that aims to redress inequalities across the broad areas of sport, leisure, physical education, schooling and education.
- The Technology Enhanced Learning (TEL) team seeks to enhance the student educational experience through embedding the appropriate use of technology in the support and delivery of learning and teaching.
- Our research on Sport and Physical Education Pedagogy is organised around a broad and inclusive concept of learning and pedagogy.
- The Centre is a cross-university initiative which brings together researchers from many disciplines interested in research into higher education policy and practice.
- We inform the development of educational practice and the enhancement of learning experiences. A key feature of our work is the development of school and university research partnerships.
- Our research explores childhood from educational, developmental, health and social policy perspectives, with a key focus on birth to 17 years, including research on how childhood connects with adulthood.
