The University and the RAE 2008
The University has successfully submitted to the RAE 2008.   The RAE panel members are now in the process of reviewing all the submissions.  The results will be published 18th December 2008 and the funding bodies will use these results to calculate funding allocations in 2009-2010.

The timetable for publishing the results and feedback to universities, general information concerning RAE2008 and previous exercises can be found here.

Research Excellence Framework
HEFCE is working to develop new arrangements for quality assessment and funding to be introduced after 2008, which will replace the previous RAE system. For information regarding the outcome of the consultation (HEFCE 2007/34) on the proposals for the new Research Excellence Framework (REF) and timetable of the process click here.

In January, HEFCE ran a series of consultation events, for institutions to discuss the proposals. Speakers from HEFCE and the Centre for Science and Technology Studies attended. The programme and slides from the presentations are available here.
