I have managed the business centre now for over 5 years and have had the pleasure of supporting a great many of our businesses through the early stages of growth. It is wonderful to see them succeed and in doing so benefiting the rest of the business community here at QU2. My background in business development and client relationship management gives me a firm understanding of what it takes to win business and build strong business relationships.

After relocating to Yorkshire from Australia I returned to study at Leeds Metropolitan University completing a degree in Events Sponsorship and Fundraising. Since joining QU2 in 2011 I have supported an increasing number of new businesses and have seen the development of our North Lodge office space at Headingley. I enjoy being part of an organisation that encourages business growth and regeneration within the local community.
Steve Baker, QU2 Business Advisor and Trainer
After graduating with a degree in Electronic Engineering and an MSc in Systems analysis, Steve Baker worked for 10 years at British Aerospace in a range of technical, sales and managerial roles. He was then sponsored by British Aerospace on an MBA at Henley Management College which he completed in 2000 before moving to take on a role selling very high value out-sourcing contracts for Logica.
Having always wanted to run his own company, he took a very big step and left Logica to a start-up an engineering software company in a small hut on an industrial estate. 5 years later, and after three entries in the Sunday Times Fastest Growing Technology Businesses, the company employed over 200 people on 3 continents and had a list of blue chip engineering clients around the world.
After exiting the business, he moved to Yorkshire where for the last 5 years he has indulged his passion of helping start-up and small businesses in the region to be more successful. With great understanding and insight of Business Planning, sales, marketing, Human Resources, Finance and all other aspects of running a successful business he is ideally placed to help small companies grow and flourish. QU2 first go to know Steve in his capacity as high growth advisor at West Yorkshire Ventures (which was then the high growth arm of Business Link Yorkshire). Since that time Steve has worked with clients at QU2 for around 5 years in various capacities, both as trainer and advisor. He has recently qualified as an accountant and tax advisor (he now runs Baker and Co accountancy practice http://www.bakeraccountants.co.uk/).Steve currently delivers sales and marketing training advice and one-to-one Business Advice for QU2, so he really does cover all aspects of areas that you may need support on for your business.
