Why choose postgraduate study?

Take your career to a new level

Many employers give preference to graduate students who have a postgraduate qualification.  It demonstrates your determination to succeed in your chosen career.  Many students take up postgraduate study to gain a necessary qualification in a specific field to improve their immediate employability and long term career goals.   This is essential for some careers such as social work or if you want to become a qualified solicitor.

Gain professional accreditation in your field

At Leeds Metropolitan we offer 46 courses which are accredited by a range of professional bodies including the Architects Registration Board (ARB), Royal Institute of British Architects, Chartered Institute of Marketing, the National Council for Voluntary Youth Services, the National Skills Academy and the Chartered Institute for IT. Our courses allow you to gain the relevant accreditation to progress in your chosen field.

Change to a new career or specialism

You may feel that your current degree or qualifications are not offering you adequate career opportunities, in which case gaining a further qualification may provide you with new career options.

Explore your strengths, interests and aspirations

If you are not sure which career you would like to pursue, postgraduate study will allow you time to explore your strengths, interests and aspirations whilst adding to your skills. Many students also study a subject which they are interested in to further develop their understanding.

Choose the right course for you

Here at Leeds Metropolitan we offer a wealth of postgraduate programmes.  We have over 250 taught courses.
