On Monday England Rugby Union head coach Stuart Lancaster was awarded an honorary doctorate. Speaking about receiving the award Stuart said: "It's a huge honour to receive the honorary doctorate from Leeds Metropolitan University today. Twenty years ago I was sat where the graduating students are sitting and I have based my career on three principles. Relationships, credibility and investing in yourself are key to your success. There is no ABC of importance, do what you say you are going to do and don't wait for someone to give you the opportunities, go and find it."
Sarah Dunwell, founder of the award-winning Create Foundation in Leeds, was awarded with an honorary Master of Business Administration degree. Sarah commented: "I founded Create because I believed that I could run a successful business whilst also giving vulnerable people the chance to get and hand-up and not a hand out. It is a tremendous honour to be here today, to be recognised in this way, and to see that my dream resonates so loudly in this city."
Other dignitaries receiving awards include former student and designer of the Olympic torch Edward Barber, Harry Potter star Matthew Lewis, Red or Dead designer Wayne Hemmingway, Colin Harrop and Pam Warhurst . Completing the list of honorary awards are Huddersfield Town chairman Dean Hoyle, Mumtaz Kahn Akbar, the founder and owner of the Mumtaz Food Group and the Guardian's Northern Editor Martin Wainwright. Why not add your favourite Graduation tracks to our Spotify 'Graduation 2012' playlist
