Leeds Metropolitan University will host an open evening at the Rose Bowl on Thursday 31 May for those interested in studying for postgraduate and professional qualifications.

The evening, which runs from 5-7pm, will include: information on the postgraduate and professional course options available at the University, including research degree programmes, part-time, weekend and online study; informal one-to-one discussions with course leaders; specialist advice about issues such as finance and accommodation; a campus tour and the chance to talk to current postgraduate students at the University.

Information will also be available on the variety of discounts available, including a £1500 scholarship available to many postgraduate students, a 10% discount offered to all graduates of Leeds Met within the last five years and research bursaries for those interested in studying for a PhD.

From September 2012, the University is launching an innovative new suite of part time study courses which allow students to study for six weekends per year for three years to achieve a postgraduate qualification.

Lina Dobrovolskyte, a student on the MSc Accounting & Finance course and Company Accountant for H Peel & Sons Ltd, said: "I love the flexibility Leeds Met offers. I was able to balance studying around my full-time employment - I'm already seeing the benefits in my professional career."

Joe Swan, Postgraduate Marketing Manager at Leeds Metropolitan, added: "Postgraduate study at Leeds Metropolitan is very flexible with courses running full-time, part-time, at weekends or online at a time and place that suits the student. The open evening aims to clarify options and help people to plan the next step in their career, whether this be career progression, changing to a new area of work, following personal interests or specialist research - even if they are not a graduate."
