Students from Leeds Met have been helping to film match footage at Yorkshire County Cricket Club as part of the pioneering partnership between the two organisations.

Ben Jenkinson, Gary Brown and Waqqas Shah are part of the University's Innovation North faculty and have spent the summer at Headingley Carnegie filming and editing footage for the big screen, club website and online magazine. The students filming also appeared on the newly launched iSeats, which uses touch screen technology to provide spectators with match day information, live sports news, replay and betting facilities, and food, drink and merchandise.

Gary Brown, a Music & New Media Technology student explains, "Having made it my ambition this year to try and take more career-enhancing opportunities, the placement with Yorkshire has proved to be ideal. I've been working as a camera operator and editor for the club and have enjoyed my experiences.

"The opportunity to work at Yorkshire will be invaluable when I graduate as not only does it show that I have worked as a volunteer, but also that I have gained experience in a high-pressure, live media environment. Working the match between Yorkshire and Lancashire was a particular highlight, the atmosphere was intense and the thrill of working in a pressurised situation like that gives me the motivation to perform to the best of my abilities."

Stewart Regan, Yorkshire CCC Chief Executive adds, "I'd like to put on record my thanks to Ben, Gary and Waqqas for their hard-work, enthusiasm and professional attitude this season. They have been great volunteers and I'm sure the experience of filming and editing professional cricket will stand them in good stead.

"It is great to see the partnership between Yorkshire CCC and Leeds Met benefiting students in this way. The Club looks forward to working with more Leeds Met volunteers in the future."

The University's campus in Headingley was twinned with the world-famous cricket and rugby grounds in September 2006 which were renamed Headingley Carnegie Stadium.

As part of the partnership Yorkshire County Cricket Club players are able to use the University's facilities to train and to meet with students and staff.
