A Leeds Met graduate is taking a bite from the apple of success and enjoying media coverage in today's local press.

Jonathan Russell, a BA (Hons) Marketing graduate, features in an article in today's Yorkshire Post newspaper, which focuses on the success of his business venture 'The Fruit Box'.

Since setting up the fruit delivery company nine months ago, thanks to support from the University's Business Start Up project which awarded him a Concept grant, Jonathan has gone on to receive repeat business success with Leeds employers, including PricewaterhouseCoopers, Sky and hair styling brand ghd, and currently delivers around 350kg of fresh fruit across the city every week.

He said: "I recognised a growing awareness of the need to eat healthily combined with the fact that people are so busy. Fruit is a convenient, healthy snack and it's not expensive. I figured there must be a way of supplying offices with fruit as a wellbeing benefit. After a bit of research I discovered the success of specialist office fruit suppliers in Australia and Norway. I decided that this trade could be a success here in Leeds."

Jonathan's Fruit Box business model has been built on a foundation of friendly and reliable customer service. Speaking ahead of the launch of the business in 2009, the entrepreneur said: "I am 100 per cent committed to making The Fruit Box experience as rewarding and hassle free as possible for businesses. I source only the highest quality and freshest produce for my customers."

With an increasing push towards employers promoting wellbeing amongst their staff, Jonathan believes that his fruit boxes are a great way to boost employee morale, health and well-being, increasing office productivity.
