Lust for life

'Edith' producer Kathryn Wilson

'Edith', a short film about love, loss, romantic love and sex in old age, is the title of a gradation film being made by Northern Film School, BA (Hons) Film and Moving Image Production students.

The film is being written, directed and produced by five third year students including producer, Kathryn Wilson and director, Ian Pinder.

The students have secured some very useful publicity on the Yorkshire Evening Post website, in their search for a lead actor and sponsorship from local businesses.

The Northern Film School students have managed to cast veteran actress Rita Davies, who has had roles in The Da Vinci Code and Monty Python and the Holy Grail. The lead actor will play alongside Rita.

Producer, Kathryn Wilson, 24, said: "It's a celebration of love and it shows the real lives of older people rather then the stereotypes."

Filming begins in February for a week and the short film is expected to be completed by May. Kathryn and director Ian Pinder have spent much of the festive period researching the film and scouting locations, which they now believe they have found in Sherburn-in-Elmet.
