Leeds Met's Equality & Diversity Team have been recognised for making significant progress in shaping our University into a 'Champion of Diversity' in West Yorkshire.

For the past eighteen months, the team have been involved in the 'Championing Diversity' scheme which is run by The Back to Work Company and supported by Yorkshire Forward. The scheme was open to employers across West Yorkshire and helped participants to develop effective strategies for managing diversity in their organisation.

The award was presented to Ian Clarke, Equality & Diversity Manager, by Liz Bavidge OBE and Director of the Fairplay Partnership, at a ceremony held in the Carriage Works this month.

The celebration of this accolade coincides with the re-launch of the University's diversity website for students and staff, and with the reinvigoration of Leeds Met's equality groups. All of this activity is part of a much larger strategy designed to embed diversity practice.

More information about theses plans can be found on the new website along with news and video about equality at Leeds Met and in the wider world. Please visit the site at www.leedsmet.ac.uk/diversity.
