IT means green

What does "Green" really mean? Why be Green? How to be Green? These three issues and more were addressed at the Green IT 'mini-conference' held at Old Broadcasting House on Monday 18 January.
Among the speakers were Innovation North academic, Professor Colin Pattinson. Colin was instrumental in setting up the faculty's MSc Green Computing award, the first of its kind in the country. The award enables students to investigate green ICT technologies, assess the environmental impact of ICT and look at how companies can streamline their systems, increase sustainability and save energy costs.
The Green IT mini-conference, hosted by the Digital 20/20 organisation, featured a range of speakers from academia and industry including speakers from; the University of Leeds, the Universiy of Lincoln, Digital 20/20, Very PC, Learning Light, Scientia Group, JISC and Leeds Met.
