Leeds Met joins Facebook

Leeds Met has enhanced its online presence with the unveiling of the University's official Facebook page.

The creation of a dedicated page to promote the University's latest news and events, further enhances Leeds Met's reputation for innovation in social media.

Momentum behind the University's presence in cyberspace has gathered momentum since the launch of the new Leeds Met homepage last September, a collaboration between the News & Media, Web & Multimedia and Marketing teams.

The new homepage design featured the extensive use of video content, an initiative that made Leeds Met's YouTube channel one of the most frequently visited in the UK throughout our Summer Graduation Festival.

Users are already able to keep abreast of Leeds Met's latest news via our Twitter feed, and now the University has created a Facebook page to reach prospective and current students, staff, partners, and alumni.

The University has already made forays onto Facebook which niche sites, such as Carnegie Sport, which has already netted around 800 fans.

Cris Neill, Online Content Manager, said: "Higher education establishments are increasingly making use of social media as a means of communicating their brand values and opportunities to prospective and current students.

"At Leeds Met, we are proud of our reputation for consistent innovation in the field of multimedia, and our Facebook page is a demonstration of our willingness to research and implement the latest internet trends to engage our users more effectively."
