The University's iconic Rose Bowl building was the venue this week for the Academy of Marketing's annual conference, which concluded on Thursday night.
The four-day conference offered professionals from the world of marketing an opportunity to network with colleagues, listen to a range of speakers, and submit papers for discussion.
Keynote speakers at the conference, the theme of which is 'Putting marketing in its place', included John Saunders and Caroline Tynan, who offered an address on 'RAE 2008 marketing results: debrief or debag' and 'We gotta get out of this place' by Stephen Brown, Noel Dennis and Jim Bell.
The conference also featured a doctoral colloquium, which provides doctoral students with the opportunity to gain guidance and advice from a team of experienced scholars. PhD students also had the opportunity to listen to presentations by guest speakers, before working up their papers into presentations, taking account of the advice provided by the presenters.
Delegates were offered the opportunity to take part in special sessions, the aim of which were to provide marketing academics and researchers with a forum to disseminate and share ideas, perspectives and theories relating to a specific area of marketing. They also offered a networking opportunity for researchers to meet others who share a similar research direction.
The conference was rounded off with a reception and dinner held at the city's Town Hall with entertainment provided by Leeds Met partners the Black Dyke Band and winners of BBC's 'When Will I be Famous' the Red Hot Chilli Pipers.
