Carnegie back in the Premiership

Leeds Carnegie returned to the Guinness Premiership with a local derby against Newcastle Falcons.

This Sunday saw the first game of the season for Leeds Carnegie in the Guinness Premiership at Headingley Carnegie Stadium. They held their northern rivals the Newcastle Falcons to a 9-9 draw in the local derby.

Terry the Yorkshire terrier was welcomed back as the mascot to Headingley Carnegie, ready and refreshed after having a two year break, to support Leeds Carnegie through the Guinness Premiership.

The clash saw Tom Biggs and Rob Vickerman, former Leeds Carnegie players and alumni of Leeds Met, making their first appearance for the Falcons in the Guinness Premiership, and a first appearance for the home side for new captain Marco Wentzel, who was joined by six other debutants.
